The annual SLS writing contests celebrate and reward great unpublished writing, offering winners and runners-up exciting publication opportunities and full & partial fellowships for innovative SLS programs around the world. 

Send us your best Fiction, Poetry, Essay, Flash Fiction, or First Chapter for a chance to publish, travel, and further develop your craft with Summer Literary Seminars.

  • Each submission must be unpublished, and accompanied by a $17 USD submission fee.

  • Submissions should be a single chapter or excerpt from a chapter (not multiple shorter excerpts). It should be the first chapter of the work.

  • If you choose to include a brief passage to provide context (which is by no means required), this passage is included in the page limit.

  • You may submit more than once (and in multiple categories) so long as each submission is separate, and accompanied by the $17 USD reading fee.
